Skincare Essentials from 3 Black Female-Owned Brands

Skincare Essentials from 3 Black Female-Owned Brands

Your skin care needs are completely unique to you! Oily, aging skin, skin irritations, rosacea, etc. Major brands would love for you to buy ALL your products from them. As if it’s a neat package meant just for you. Most of these companies don’t have your best interest in mind and continue to test on animals.

Small-batch brands have sooo many benefits because of the fresh and potent ingredients. The products are handmade just for you!

I know you’ve seen an influencer or celebrity walk you through their skincare routine. That routine may be perfect for them, but most likely it won’t be best for you.

Knowing what your skin needs is a learning process which takes trial and error. Get a toner from here, a moisturizer from there, add a locally made scrub, and BAM you’ve got an elixir for your best skin yet!

You can click on each brand below to get samples and travel sizes.

1. The Healing Place Apothecary

2. Jacq's

3. Chloe + Chad

Chloe+Chad does not have sample sizes, BUT they have a set that includes their best selling products - the Unscented Face Serum and Geranium Face Wash.

Often, our skin gets complacent with the products we use. Thus, you may need to swap between two different face washes, serums, etc. Even two different brands of a similar product.

Your skin may also adore a specific moisturizer, but 10 years from now your skin might tell you it’s time to move on to the next. Bye bye!

You will always grow, change, evolve and so will your body.

After saying all this, I have brought you 3 brands that use skin-loving ingredients.

By shopping these brands you are supporting your health, women of color, the environment, and small businesses! 😍

Here are 3 beautiful brands created by black women:

1. The Healing Place Apothecary by Nubian Flunder

Nubian is a herbalist, holistic educator, and acupuncturist. Not only does she focus on the benefits of natural products for your body, but the benefits for the environment. No chemicals added to your body or the 'toxic soup' in the air.

The Essentials: Unscented Face Serum and Geranium Face Wash

You can shop the Unscented Face Serum and Geranium Face Wash here.

I also recommend the Coconut Bath Soak and the Organic Coffee Scrub.

Coconut Bath Soak

Ingredients: coconut powder, Epsom salt, pink sea salt powder, sodium bicarbonate, proprietary blend of essential oils

Organic Coffee Scrub

Ingredients: coffee (Arabica)*, demerara sugar*, sodium bicarbonate, extra virgin olive oil*, vanilla planifolia*, tocopheryl (a naturally occurring ingredient most often referred to as vitamin E, not to be confused with tocopheryl acetate which is synthetic), coffee seed oil

I highly recommend coffee scrubs because they are incredible for healing scars, stretch marks, and skin irritations.
