5 Cleaner Nail Polish Brands

5 Cleaner Nail Polish Brands

Many of us are looking for cleaner options in our daily lives. From cleaning supplies to clean skincare. Nail polish is a tricky product that I would not consider as clean beauty. However, there are brands excluding the most toxic ingredients. Many companies are 5-free or 10-free meaning they exclude common ingredients like formaldehyde and triphenyl phosphate (TPHP). Basically toxic chemicals that can be carcinogenic, can cause birth defects, etc.

Most nail polish is flammable and you should never eat it. Nail polish can get on your skin or cuticles and those ingredients absorb into your skin. You also inhale fumes in its liquid state. What you put on your nails does affect your body and I would recommend to end any nail biting habits.

I have listed 5 nail lacquers that are cleaner than most and women-owned! I also added a few non-toxic nail polish removers at the end of this post. 😘

After two years of development, Habit was finally born.

3. Deco Miami

  • Woman-owned by Jules

  • “Deco is a 100% cruelty-free brand. Deco does not engage in any animal-testing, nor do we purchase raw materials from suppliers who do. All Deco products are vegan friendly and we have no plans to introduce non-vegan products in the future.”

  • Made in the USA

  • Free of DBP, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, toluene, camphor, parabens, xylene, ethyl tosylamide, & triphenyl phosphate (TPHP)

  • Lists full nail polish ingredients!

  • Designed to be pretty enough to sit on your dresser

  • Have you ever finished a bottle of nail polish? Deco comes in tinier & even cuter sizes for practicality

Personally, I’m obsessed with the look of the smaller sized bottles 😍

The biggest thing that motivated me to start Deco was that I wanted to create a beauty line for 20-somethings that was run by a 20-something (I'm 25!) because I'm sick of dudes taking over the beauty counter. Having a quality and clean product is just as high a priority for me as having a real and relatable brand.

Nail polish has always been my favorite beauty product because there are no rules in the nail game, and as someone who hates being told what to do and how to be, nail polish is my drug of choice.

5. Trust Fund Beauty

  • Woman-owned by Samara Granofsky

  • Vegan & cruelty-free

  • Read about their ingredients here

Samara started the brand in homage to her mother who passed from cancer. A side affect of chemotherapy was brittle and yellow nails. Looking for a good nail polish, most safe brands on the market offered a limited selection of colors with names that were no fun. All Samara's mother wanted a fashion forward brand that provided non-toxic, good clean fun!

A few years after her mother's passing, Samara decided to launch trust fund beauty. she combined their shared sense of humor, with her mothers want for something cool, to create this cheeky brand.
